About Me…

I’m a mom to three girls (ages 23, 22, and 14) and an Optometrist who is also married to an Optometrist. Despite this fact, my daughter’s school had to make three requests for my child to get an eye exam. My last pregnancy occurred as I was closing in on 40, and it inspired me to launch this blog, chronicling life as a working mom who found herself buying diapers and bifocals at the same time. When I’m not busy carpooling or doing eye exams, I can usually be found on a dock soaking up the water and sun at my Show-Me-State home.

Suzy! I heard my nephew bought a tractor from Joe Moody. Out of boredom, I googled him and came across your picture with classmates at Kendall’s celebration of life. I loved the story you wrote about that. It reminded me of the poem you wrote about Rex. I also had many similar thoughts after Rachelle Emshoff (Burow) died. Plus, we were both diagnosed at about the same time. I had surgery and got rid of the cancer, she had a long battle with chemo, radiation and, ultimately, a funeral. Survivor’s guilt is definitely a thing.
I don’t keep in touch with many Auburnites because people on social media had annoyed me to the point that I deleted all of it. I’m just a grumpy old introvert these days.

I hope everything is going well with your family.

    Lots of love,

    Todd Black

I absolutely loved hearing from you!!!! I understand all of the emotions you talked about all too well. It seems crazy that we could be old enough to lose classmates…I swear we were in high school yesterday—but also, that seems like eons ago. Strange.

I’m so grateful to have heard from you and thrilled you are well. The other side of those scary diagnoses are so much better. Don’t be a stranger. ❤️

      Suzy
